Switzerland- 3 days Travel itinerary. Covering Interlaken-Jungfrau-Grindelwald-Schilthorn

After completing my official trip to Germany, I decided to extend my travel and explore the heart of Europe —
Switzerland. From Frankfurt, I booked my train ticket to Thun and also purchased the Swiss Travel Pass right there at the Frankfurt station.

🚤 Day 1: Exploring Thun to Interlaken by Boat

🚆 Germany to Thun – The Journey Begins

The trains from Frankfurt to Thun is a comfortable and scenic journey to Thun offered a preview of what Switzerland is all about — serene lakes, green meadows, and charming towns. Thun is a beautiful lakeside town with medieval streets and a magnificent castle overlooking the turquoise Lake Thun.

I boarded the train around 4:00 AM, and by 9:30 AM, I was already at Lake Thun, soaking in the cool morning air and the incredible mountain views.
💡 Tip: The Swiss Travel Pass is a must-have! It offers unlimited travel by train, bus, and boat throughout Switzerland — saving both time and money.

⛵ Boat Ride from Thun to Interlaken

From Thun, I took a boat ride to Interlaken, a one-hour scenic cruise across Lake Thun. Along the way, I admired fairy-tale castles like Schloss Oberhofen and Schloss Spiez on the shores.

Interlaken, one of the most romantic places in Switzerland, is where scenes from the legendary Indian movie DDLJ were filmed.

I got down at a small stop just before Interlaken to enjoy the peaceful lake and watch boats passing every 30 minutes.

The peaceful vibe, gentle wind, and the sound of rippling water made it a moment to remember. Soon I boarded the next boat and continued to Interlaken.

🏞️ Interlaken – The Heart of Swiss Adventure

Interlaken, nestled between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, is famous for adventure sports and breathtaking mountain views. I strolled around Höhematte Park, visited Unterseen Old Town, and enjoyed lakeside cafés. As the sun set, I took a short train ride to Lauterbrunnen for my stay.

🏡 Lauterbrunnen – The Valley of Waterfalls

From Interlaken, I took a short train ride to Lauterbrunnen, a charming valley village surrounded by dramatic cliffs and 72 waterfalls. I checked into a cozy hostel for 2 nights, walked around the quiet streets, and visited a nearby waterfall before ending the day at a local café.

Lauterbrunnen is truly magical — one side of the valley leads to Mürren and Schilthorn (Piz Gloria), while the other side connects to the legendary Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe.

🏔️ Day 2: Jungfraujoch and Grindelwald First Adventure

Early next morning, I boarded the train from Lauterbrunnen to Jungfraujoch, one of the highest train stations in Europe. The journey through snow tunnels and panoramic viewpoints was stunning.

After spending time on the observation deck and enjoying the ice palace, I continued to Grindelwald First. There, I took the First Cliff Walk, soaked in the breathtaking views, and tried out some adrenaline-pumping activities — including mountain carting and the First Flyer zip line.

It was a day filled with adventure, snow, and stunning landscapes — a true Swiss experience.

⛰️ Day 3: Mürren and Schilthorn – The James Bond Peak

On my final morning, I explored the other side of the valley — heading towards Mürren and Schilthorn (Piz Gloria). This spot is famous for being featured in the James Bond movie “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service”.

At the summit, there’s a 360° rotating restaurant, offering incredible views of Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau peaks.

After enjoying a hearty meal and completing the round trip, I returned to my hostel in Lauterbrunnen, packed my bags, and headed back to Interlaken — for one last crazy adventure!

🪂 Skydive Over the Swiss Alps – The Ultimate Thrill

My Switzerland trip wouldn’t be complete without ticking off a bucket-list dream — Skydiving in Interlaken!

After a short briefing, we boarded a helicopter and ascended high above the Swiss Alps. As the door opened, my heart raced — and then came the leap of faith! A 45-second free fall with the mighty Alps below and lakes shining like jewels — it was an indescribable feeling of freedom.

When the parachute opened, I could fully take in the beauty of Interlaken, Lake Thun, and Lake Brienz from above.

We landed safely back at the Skydive Club Interlaken ground, adrenaline still rushing.
🎯 Note: If you plan to Skydive, pre-book online — slots fill up quickly, especially in summer.

🚌 Farewell Switzerland – Journey to Paris

After wrapping up my skydiving adventure, I took an evening FlixBus from Interlaken to Paris to continue my European journey. It was hard to say goodbye to Switzerland — every corner felt like a postcard.
